Writing code can be fun and challenging. For somebody who enjoys puzzles for example, coding problems can provide a similar mental exercise.

Often though, particularly in a commercial environment, the fun part can be smothered by other factors, such as the architectural and project factors, data, systems and people.

So here, this blog is about going back to the fun part, which is writing often simple sections of code to do very specific, often visible tasks.

We’re really not worried at all here by what environment or coding language is used, or whether x is better than y, it’s just about making simple things work.
